My name is Chelsea Linsley, Lawyer and Life Coach Extraordinaire!
If you are a law student, young lawyer, or activist who is feeling stuck or overwhelmed, motivated to work for the change you want to see in your life and in the world, but not really sure where to start, you've come to the right place.
It is my JOY to help young lawyers and change-makers thrive and create intentional, purpose-driven careers.
You only get "one wild and precious life," to quote Mary Oliver. So what are you waiting for? Let's do this.
LET'S GOA Life Coach is someone who helps people manage their minds, so they can create the results they want.
I am a life coach for law students. I use the tools of life coaching, career coaching, mindfulness, and legal pedagogy to help law students and young lawyers define success, reach their goals, and find soul-feeding, change-making, justice-seeking careers in the law.
Most lawyers, whether they are professors, career counselors, or legal professionals have the same, stock advice to offer.
(Yes, I said it. #sorrynotsorry)
Don't get me wrong, there's a place for the conventional wisdom. There can be valuable insight and strategies there (some of which we even use in coaching!).
But what if you're unconventional?
What if you want to chart your own course?
What if you want to use your law degree to challenge the system and change the world?
The one-size-fits-all-lawyers approach is not going to cut it if you're trying to use your law degree to change the world as we know it.
As we coaches like to say - that which got us here, is not going to get us there.
Most guidance that you're going to get in law school is focused solely on strategy - but it takes more than strategy to be a high performer, let alone a groundbreaking change-maker.
It's like going to the gym. A trainer can give you a straight-forward strategy to become an elite athlete. Do this exercise, eat this meal... But most people aren't elite athletes. Why? Because it takes more than a strategy blueprint.
Moreover (excuse me while I get on my soapbox), the conventional wisdom you get from other lawyers comes with a lot of baggage and limiting beliefs about what is possible for you and for the world.
Most lawyers like to try and pull you into so-called realistic thinking. Sometimes this is done with good intentions:
So you don't get your hopes up.
So you don't spin your wheels.
So you don't "put your career at risk."
As students, we have a tendency to adopt those limiting beliefs for ourselves and haul around that baggage, because we don't really know any better... After all, they're the experts, right?
But the truth is: this is not your baggage. And carrying it around is only going to reinforce the status quo, business-as-usual, corporate-controlled bull$#!t that you went to law school to shake-up in the first place.
A life coach knows that:
You get to decide what is possible for you.
You get to decide what your career looks like.
And you already have the roadmap to more just, humane, and equitable world inside you.
As a Law School Coach, I empower you to shed those limiting beliefs and chart your course for yourself.
This law degree is yours for the taking. Let's see what you can do with it.
GET COACHEDIt really annoys me how often law students are not given the simple tools they need to succeed.
Law school can be strenuous, of course. But in my experience, it's often made so much harder than necessary as students are thrown in to the deep end and expected to just "figure it out."
I can't stand this. Seriously.
I believe in giving students the tools necessary to succeed, because this builds their confidence and makes them better lawyers. There is a strategy to law school. And it's actually pretty straight-forward. I teach it, because why make law school harder than necessary?
No passionate, purpose-driven lawyer with a powerful mind and a dream to change the world is going to lose their confidence and belief on my watch.
The world needs us. It really, really does. The public interest lawyers, the cause lawyers, the movement lawyers... There is a ton of work to be done. Whether it's because something just isn't clicking or because a skeptical "adult" told us we're not cut out for the legal profession, it is all too common for students to lose their confidence and their belief in what's possible during law school. But not on my watch, I say. Not on my watch.
Coaching with me is about shutting out the noise.
It's about helping you be conscious, intentional, and values-aligned in law school and in your career.
It's about making the grades and getting the jobs
But without the maladaptive norms that lead to things like anxiety and substance abuse.
It's about empowering you
To make the most of your law degree
And lead the change you want to see in the world.
GET COACHEDThe Law School Project coaching program has two components:
Both are essential to naming and claiming your place in the legal profession.
As someone who has been teaching and tutoring law students since I was in law school myself, I have strategies for you. I don't believe in hiding the ball. I can give you strategies on how to make the grades, get the jobs, and manage the workload.
But honestly, that's the easy part.
Consider the gym example I mentioned before. A fitness plan is pretty straight-forward. Do this exercise, eat this meal. But most people really struggle to follow through when it comes to eating healthy and going to the gym. Not because the strategy is hard, but because it takes so much more than strategy.
Mindset is what will make or break your success. Mindset coaching is where you shed the limiting beliefs, overcome the obstacles, and create massive breakthroughs and lasting change.

SIGN UP FOR A CONSULTATIONMany of us want to skip the MINDSET work and go straight to the STRATEGY. We think if we just have a strategy, we will implement it. But, it doesn't always work.
When it doesn't work, we tend to turn the blame on our programs, our schools, or our teachers, but often it is our own thoughts that are sabotaging our success.
Don't wait. Let's make your life what you want it to be.
